Vicente
Blasco Ibañez (1867-1928) was born on January 29, 1867. He studied law in Valencia. He was publisher of the magazine Pueblo (people) and took a republican position, for which he was sentenced to several months of prison. He married 1889 María Blasco del Cacho. He was member of the republican party and as such member of the parliament. When Cánovas del Castillo took power, he went to Paris. His novels and short stories have the influence of the French naturalism, especially of Emile Zola. He died in Paris at the age of 60.
