  Is the place known that is referred to indicativo is used

El lugar donde ocurrió el accidente.
= The place where the accident occurred.
El restaurante donde solía tomar el desayuno.
= The restaurant where he used to have breakfast.

  Is the place unknown the subjuntivo is used

Podemos encontrarnos donde usted quiera.
= We can meet where(ever) you want.
Puedes poner la mesa donde mejor te parezca.
= You can put the table where(ever) you like best.

  de donde and a donde: donde with prepositions

La ciudad de donde viene está muy lejos de aquí.
= The city where he comes from is very far away from here.
