The tense of the introductory verb is - not like in English - unimportant

In the Spanish reported speech, the subjuntivo is never used in the part
describing what somebody else has said.
The condicional simple expresses that the event happened only after it was reported.

The tenses used in direct speech and reported speech can be different.

Regarding the use of the tenses it doesn't matter whether the introductory verb requires indicativo or subjuntivo. The only difference is that in subjuntivo there is no difference between the tenses used when reporting something that happens at the same time and reporting something that is still going to happen.

The verbs to think/believe (creer), to suppose (suponer) and to suspect (sospechar) do not require the subjuntivo. Only when used in negative clauses the subjuntivo has to be used.

The imperative is expresses in reported speech with the subjuntivo.
 

Change the following sentences according to the model given. The introductory verb is changed from present tense to pretérito indefinido, the reported part of the sentence has to be changed accordingly.
